What to know about 1920's-30's

The Polish-Soviet war erupted in 1919 in in the aftermath of world war I. The root causes were twofold: a territorial dispute dating back to polish - Russian wars in the 17-18th centuries and a clash of ideology due to RSFSR's goal of spreading communist rule further west, to Europe (Soviet westward offensive of 1918-19) At the time both countries had just underdone transition in 1918 Poland reclaimed independence after 123 years of partitions. In 1917 the October Revolution replaced the liberal, democratic Provisional Government, that had previously displaced the Tsar in Russia, with soviet rule. The war ended with the treaty of Riga in 1912, which settled the border issue and regulated Polish-Soviet relations until the German-Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939.

Commitment

This term (Term 4) We are focusing on commitment.

The question is....

What does commitment mean to me?
To me commitment is a promise or agreement to do something. An example of commitment is marriage. An example of commitment is going into business with someone or playing sports.
It also means to....

  • Never give up
  • Do your best
  • always getting involved
  • Focus on what's important
  • Hold yourself accountable

Refine your goals. It's hard to commit yourself to something if your finish line is just a nebulous point off in the distance, And to me commitment feel like loyalty if you don't know what loyalty means. Loyalty means never giving such as "i won't give up i will do my best and give it 100%.

Why do horses sleep standing up

Horses do get a lot of sleep while standing up, but they lie down when they require Rem sleep. Typically, the amount of Rem sleep they require is very small, so they don’t need to lie down often. However, many horses lie down just because they feel comfortable or want to do so.

The reason horses can sleep while standing for most of their sleep cycle is because it allows them to quickly escape an attack by a predator without having to waste time standing up which can be a slow process compared to a predator attack. The method by which horses stand while sleeping is called the “stay apparatus,” and it’s a system of ligaments and tendons that keep them upright with relative ease.

Horses also like using the buddy system for sleeping, where one horse watches over the others while they’re sleeping. The role of watch-horse will rotate as each member of the herd gets the sleep they need, including lying down for necessary Rem sleep. Many horses adopt this kind of rotation when they’re in their home barn setting, either in a paddock or in a stall next to their regular neighbors.

A travelling horse owner reported that he often had to stall his mare overnight in someplace unusual. he knew the travel and new sleeping environments would be rough on her sleeping schedule, and he could often gauge their performance on how well she slept. There was a pretty good correlation between her performance and whether or not he had to brush stall shavings off her belly. If she had shavings on her belly, he knew she had a good night’s sleep. If not, then he figured she hadn’t slept well and might have problems.

Musical theatre reflection

Moana
  1. Our group song
We know the way - From Moana.
What is the song about? A girl sailed to sea trying to restore the heart of Tefiti and to
make her island live again.

What is difficult about singing this song? Memorising the lyrics because it's in a different languages.

How are you feeling about your performance? We are all shy but also exited about it but
no one is singing so they are shy.

2. The story of Maui
Who is Maui?
He pulled the islands out of the sea
He helped Moana restore the heart.
